On the Alaskan Railroad Fairbanks to Denali

Itchyfeet.diaries is once again on the move.  This time a two week long Alaskan holiday.  This is not an adventure.  It is truly a holiday.   Luxurious as we can make it.   We flew to Fairbanks via Chicagp after a 7 hour delay.  I recommend avoiding the Midwest when flying out west ??Day 1 was spent flying to Coldfoot and driving back through northern Alaska.   Yes we crossed the arctic but there was nothing noteworthy of that trip.  Driving along the Alaskan pipeline, stopping at the northern most truck stop and listening to the tour guides drone for 6 hours without any vistas to stop at was a complete waste.   Skip it if you canDay 2Oh what a treat.  We have a package with the Wildnerness Express  in the domed car   Luxurious:  complete with spiral staircase, a barista and full bar on board with amazing breakfast all at a priceHere are some of the spectacularvvistas we saw as we rode from Fairbanks to Denali Depot. It was hard to photograph through the glass as the glare and fringe from the polarizing filter played the dominant wrench at all times.
