Hey there...I am back here after a long long time. There have been many trips on this itchy feet but have not gotten around to connect.

Have you ever been to the Phildelphia Flower Show? Each year the theme is different...2020 was all about Riviera vacation. The vignettes were absolutely transporting, here were my first thoughts:

Amongst the million joyful and colorful flowers is the somber and harsh reality. The gates to this reality have beautiful smiling faces. Behind those faces though is a grim reality of floating to freedom. Of defying all odds of sinking. Of finding shores to walk on.

An exhibit representing the largest refugee nations; Over two-thirds of those refugees come from just five countries: Syria, Afghanistan, South Sudan, Myanmar and Somalia. Over half of these are children.

Today we fear getting on train, plane or boat out of our own free will because we have a choice. These people do not.

No words needed to describe the next set of images...heres the flower show through my lens. I loved capturing people and watching how strangers stopped to give each other advice on how to take care of their newly bought plants, how so many apologized because they thought they were in my way, how people came to enjoy with masks even if allergies bothered them, meeting one of the prize winners as she described her hand made hand bag and lastly a teenage boy spotting his 7th grade math teacher in a cactus suit. I managed to capture the men in my family as they enjoyed (or at least pretended to) the flower show.
